Más de mi huerto/ More about my orchard

Junio (4)

Maca

I know you were wondering about my orchard….or not jiji, but I am sharing the news nontheless since I am very excited.

The new company I am using is doing super (I will wait a bit longer to tell you who they are, so I don’t recommend someone I don’t know well yet). Yesterday Monday they came as promised, which sounds silly, but believe me not everyone delivers the service you pay for when they skip the agreed dates for weeks and weeks.

They brought me compost to nurture the orchard, more soil because the rain had washed away a lot of it and the plants were very sad, and fertilizer. All organic and certified.

They also brought me a lot of choices of veggies and herbs to substitute the zucchinis, tomatoes and cilantros that were lost to the plague: I chose a roma tomato, chives, celery and a pear tomato plant I had never seen before. The placed all the plants and removed the ones that were not supossed to be there. All of these while explaining everything to me, since their goal is to teach us instead on making us depend on them like the other company I used which only wanted me to buy their products or wait until they came, which could be 5 to 6 weeks at a time.

I also went through the options for the third orchard and some fruit trees I can grow in my space; raspberry, lemon (small) and kumquats (Japanese tangerine). Also they sprayed more liquid to kill the plague, ants and white flies that had attacked the orchards.

Check out the result: It is pretty again, full of life and healthy.

And we are planning a class for the little ones to teach them how to germinate and grow plants for the summer.

Anyway, I am happy right now and the orchard is going back to being super healthy.

Hugs,

Maca
